Narrative

Inspired by a true story and directed by Magnus von Horn, The Girl with the Needle tells the story of Karolina (Vic Carmen Zonne), a young factory worker struggling to survive in post-World War I Copenhagen. When she finds herself unemployed, abandoned and pregnant, she meets Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm), a charismatic woman who runs an underground adoption agency, helping mothers find adoptive families for their unwanted children. Caroline, who has nowhere to go, takes on the role of nurse. A strong bond develops between the two women, but Caroline’s world is shattered when she learns the shocking truth behind her work.
